Prerequisite: REL 1000 Understandings of Religion Traveling across northern 坦桑尼亚, you will have the opportunity to immerse in the abundantly diverse social, 文化, 宗教, and natural surroundings of 坦桑尼亚 through formal discussions with 坦桑尼亚n professors and 宗教 leaders, and interaction with amazing local people including college students and local people; visiting contemporary sites that illustrate the great social, 文化, and 宗教 abundance of 坦桑尼亚, including churches, 清真寺, temples; historical and 文化 sites, such as the traditional villages of Chagga and Maasai people; markets, 博物馆, and schools and colleges; observe and participate in indigenous music and dance; going on two-day/one-night safari packs in two of 坦桑尼亚’s most popular national parks; serving others at a chosen site; sunbathing at the pristine, warm sandy Indian Ocean beaches; and after-hours enjoyment in local restaurants and entertainment venues.

Students will visit the cities of Arusha and Moshi and nearby villages located at the lush foothills of mighty Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, then down to the Spice Island of Zanzibar (birthplace of Freddie Mercury), and over to the bustling Indian Ocean coastal city of Dar es Salaam.

Experiential learning and discussion will focus on 坦桑尼亚n society and culture, 宗教 pluralism, and interfaith cooperation that have helped make 坦桑尼亚 one of the most peaceful and stable countries in Africa.
