“The proximity to home 和 closeness to Lake Michigan were huge draws towards Carthage, along with the smaller class sizes. Carthage also offers 游戏 development courses, creating an opportunity for me I could only dream of.”

“My favorite class at Carthage so far has been Intellectual Foundations. Professor Marla Polley was always a ball of joy 和 gave a clear view of how enthusiastic she was to teach us. In the class, I also made many new friends, who became some of the best people I know. Work-wise, the homework was thought-provoking 和 interesting.”

“My toughest class so far has been Discrete Structures. Taking a math class with more words than math was a rough adjustment. 然而, even though the work can be difficult, I have maintained my grade in the class with hard work 和 dedication.”

“我 涉及到 in Carthage Activities Board (CAB) 和 Carthage Film Association (CFA) as an E-board member. 对CFA, I make sure to send out emails reminding the members about events 和 meetings 和 send out meeting minutes. 对出租车, I help performers out before their shows, create ideas for events 和 set them up, 和 decide the logistics for said events like food, time, 奖, 等. I am also a member of the Chinese Club, which I am somewhat active in.”

“While not entirely related to computer science, I have an on-campus job as a member of the Firebirds Broadcast Crew. I have mostly manned the cameras this semester, making sure the output of the live stream or video goes smoothly. 然而, aspects such as graphics 和 replay are much closer to my major, interacting with an interface to change the video output.”

“After I graduate, I hope to be hired by a software development company after interning there during my later college years 和 eventually work at a 游戏 development company.”

“My favorite Carthage memory is going to Six Flags with my friends. Getting to scream your head off on a rollercoaster is awesome, 和 sharing that memory with friends is even better. Another favorite memory is winning bingo 和 hearing my friends cheer me on as I went to get my prize.”

“The biggest surprise so far is how little free time I have. Being a part of two E-boards, your workload is bound to get heavier, but adding a job 和 学校work on top of that makes your day filled with events, 学校, 和朋友. It may be a bit disappointing not to relax as much, but with all the fun experiences I’ve had, I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”

“My advice for those who want to follow this path is to make sure to work hard 和 always ask for help if you’re struggling, as computer science is a very cooperative subject.”
